Teenage Past

My teenage past lurks in the shadows of my mind.
A constant reminder of days lost in time.
When life was as gentle as a poetic rhyme.

When April showers brought May flowers.
When the summer breeze flowed through
 the mulberry trees.
When skies were so blue and school bells
tolled for the class of fifty two.

When  covered bridges, swimming holes,
bicycle rides,  baseball games, fishing poles,
and a teenage girl were my only goals.

When these teenage thoughts come to mind,
I let them dwell…
for you see that time was sublime,
and now is forlorn, but not forgotten…
Thoughts that will linger in the shadows
of my mind…
until the end of my time.
