I Weep For God's Children - Poems For Mothers
One day our son, (who had been called of God and was serving in a position of priesthood leadership amongst his peers in church) came to me. His service to the Lord had been more pretended than real in order to cover up what he'd been doing. He came to me expressing anger because he had gotten into trouble when we (his parents) discovered that he was experimenting with drugs. He was quite upset that his sister was doing the same things and had not been disciplined as
Of course until that moment, we didn't know that she too, was doing the same things. Our daughter was also serving at that time in a leadership position amongst her peers. Prior to their accepting these callings these two had been interviewed by the Lord's servant who had been called through the Holy priesthood of God through Spirit filled inspiration to preside over our congregation. They lied to him about their personal worthiness to serve their peers in such positions. By Heavenly inspiration, the Lord's presiding servant knew that they were hiding something. My husband too, kept telling me that he felt that they were not being up front with us but because the children were so effectively lying, I had a very difficult time believing that they might truly be walking the wayward path.
It was in that painful moment of truth, after our son came to me, that I prayerfully searched for an effective way to confront our daughter. This poem came to me and I subsequently presented it to both of the children.
That was the beginning of the hard road to recovery for both of them who discovered that it was much harder for them to pull out than they imagined. They finally, repentantly sought the Lords help to do so and found Him to be mercifully there for them. These two have since made tremendous Spiritual progress! There is now much greater peace shining within their countenances and they are way more pleasant to be around. Our son is now preparing to serve a two year mission for the Lord and his sister is now serving as the president of her young womens class at church...
How merciful is the Lord when we seek His help to pull out of those erroneous paths we far too often find ourselves in...I am posting this with the hope that if it in any way applies to you and your children, you will feel free to use it as a tool to bring the truth to light and to hopefully help pull them out of the abyss that they are in. And I pray that our experience will offer hope to others who might be struggling similarly with their children. My prayers go with you...
I Weep For God's Children
He came to me in anger
Because he was in trouble
To tell me of his sister
Who was with him in the rubble.
The pain I felt was so intense
For this sister and her brother,
Because the lies were so immense
That they told to me…their mother.
They stood in places of example
Called by their loving Savior.
To show their peers His love so ample
That he'd shown by His behavior.
But Satan came-a-tempting
Because he knew so well
The weaknesses within them
That could drag them down to hell.
Curiosity teaches many lessons…
It can break the best resolve
within God's daughters and his sons,
When temptation's tool is used to solve.
In sorrow now, I know the truth
My heart hurts oh-so-deep
For choices made by precious youth
That make our Savior weep.
I pray Thee Lord, in desperation,
Forgive me for believing…
Ignoring Priesthood inspiration,
The lies that were deceiving.
Please help my children to repent…
Prepare the fiery darts
Of loving pure chastisement
That will heal their wounded hearts!
