He wore a funny little hat,
his little spotted dog looked
like it was kin to an alley cat!
In the tiny township square,
he sang and danced in circles,
first on one foot then the other.
He smiled as he whirled his
little black cane and called
everyone by their name.
His old brown shoes were worn out,
his pants were tattered and torn.
His polka-dot shirt had patches
on top of patches, but he was
never teased are scorned.
His little spotted dog wore
a yellow bandanna and
danced on two legs,
as the little old man
sang and juggled
two big brown eggs.
All the kids were immediately his
fans, and all the old folks stomped
and clapped their hands.
No one ever knew his name,
they just called him the funny
little man with a dancing dog
and a funny little cane.
He came early ever spring,
but spring and summer have
come and gone, winter
is here.
But the funny little man,
with the funny little dog
and funny little cane
didn’t come back this year.
Now everyone that knew the
funny little man with the
funny little dog …
missed them and
cried a little tear.
Now I don’t know…
but I’ve been told;
that the funny little man with
the funny little hat and the
dancing dog was always
happy and had no fear.

on God's highway in the
sky,when the days are
