A sword in the stone

Within the greenery and branches of twisted machinery
I realise what all this means to me
To be alone
To have no home
A king without a thrown
A sword in the stone

The dragons armour I wear, and my shaven hair
Reminds me of time when I did care
Would protect the queen
A worthwhile member of the team
And what might have been
Now she's just skin and bone
A sword in the stone

Birds above me sing praises
Whilst my horse rests and grazes
I want to be free like them
To walk again
In the world of men
To call my castle my home
A sword in the stone

The sword of heroes hangs beside me
Its mythical glow easy to see
A hilt carved from of a giants arm
I would never let it cause harm
To anyone I love and cared for
But the blooded blade suggests more
Lost, scared, confused, alone
A sword in the stone
