Puppy

I'm running at top speed,
where am I going?
I like to know indeed.
Here and there or maybe
over there to catch that
butterfly in the air.

I jump, play and chase my tail.
I yelp and pant then stop
and scratch my floppy ear.
I have no fear because my
friend Billy is playing near.

I'm a puppy and Billy is
only five but that all right,
for we're going to be friends
for life, and when he gets
bigger, we're going to fly
Bill's kite.
That's what he said!

My name?
My name is…is, I don't know
for sure. Billy calls me puppy,
but I heard his mother call me a dog.
His dad called me a nuisance.

I don't know way, but I like puppy better!
I've got to go smell that tree!
See ya!
