That Last Horrific Call

I have seen the daytime star rise and set over
twenty six thousand times.
I have traveled the world afar and witnessed
the ugliness and dispair as well as the beauty
of its rhymes.

I have felt the winds of war and seen the
faces of evil, whose crimes have wrought
death, destruction and horrific upheaval.

I have traveled in the time machine for seventy
years, and witnessed the light and darkness
of the inner soul of humanity with all its
hopes and fears.

I wonder how much longer humanity can endure
the stress and strain of its own creations.
The pain, intolerance, abuse, neglect and
untold aberrations.

Only time can tell if humanity is to survive or
fall, and it’s up to humanity to make that last
horrific call.
