One Thousand Tears

One thousand tears
A sad story to tell
Each one was counted
As from eyes they fell

A splash on a page
To blur once sweet thought
Another to follow
Though it matters not

A brush of the hand
To wipe them away
With efforts so futile
For another had came

One thousand tears
Counted every one
Perhaps one thousand more
Before she is done
