many sides to Rosey

25,648 poems read

Countless of mornings at Grams and Pap's
With coffee by Pap's side, I would sit on his lap
And watch as his slender hand held the mug,
Bringing it to his lips now and then for a chug

Whenever my grandparents entertained company,
Out would come the coffee mugs, which tea would accompany
Aunts gossiped and uncles chatted through numerous of cups
Standing up now and then to get their cups filled up

On some days, when I had gotten so sick,
Pap would bring me soup in the coffee mug so quick
And nursed me back to health in no time
With lots of love, making my illness a pastime

Time went by and Heaven had claimed my Pap,
Leaving in our hearts a huge, missing gap
Grams came over with a box to my place
And my heart and soul, I needed to brace

For those coffee mugs belong to me now
And with every sip I took, Pap was with me, I know
For my days were finally started with a big smile,
Gearing me up for life filled with triumph and trial
