Biloxi

Can you feel the warm
sunshine and that sea
breeze flowing softly
through those tall palm
trees?

Can you feel the lapping
waves, the soft sand on
the beaches of this
paradise land.

Oh! Look out there!
A blue dolphin just
jumped high into
the air.

Take a deep breath…
can you smell that clean
gulf air, and feel the salt
in your hair?

Blue crabs, oysters on the half shell,
buttered lobster tail and all the shrimp
you can eat! What a place! What a feast!

White sea gulls flutter and squawk
on the beach, as  brown pelicans
dive and screech.

Stop the car!
Let’s take a picture of
the old iron lighthouse,
before we go too far.

Biloxi…
a warm paradise on earth!
Oh! How I wish I was there!
But no! I’m sitting here
freezing by my fireplace hearth.
