Roots of Boastful PrideDeuteronomy 8:14-18 Beware your heart is not lifted up by pride, No thoughts of your Lord God deep inside, He is your guide through the cruel waste; Dangers in a land without water you faced; Making water to pour out of a hard rock, Bread just for the picking up as you walk; So your pride is broken and hearts tested, Because of everything God has invested; Say not your power and hands got wealth, That prevention kept you in good health; Rather that the Lord your God bestowed, The power and wealth within your abode. We may think of owning a lot and as rich, But forgetting that there's a little hitch; Houses and fancy cars you think you own, Are really belonging to God that is on loan; Flashing brings out the pride as we boast, But pride a pet peeve by the Heavenly Host; Building more pride is more sin you achieve, With chances being likely you will deceive.
