Mama Buddha - Musings of Madame Poe

This Mortal Coil

Chaos in my beautiful destruction.
Madness & I need no introduction.

Alone, I walk on the road of despair.
Knotted roads that lead to nowhere.

Through the forest of banshee cries,
From the swamp of sadness where hope dies.

I came upon a shrouded woman without a name.
Jade almond eyes, hair as red as flame.

She offered me shelter and a slice of rye bread,
And begged me not to travel the road ahead.

I stood counting the wrinkles and lines on her face.
And how much time had stolen her youth and grace.

My ignorance marched me along,
As my restlessness grew strong.

Chasing at my heels, wolfish wind chases,
Elemental mad dog of many faces.

Behind me, the sunless back I've turned.
Beyond me, nameless roads are burned.

My poetic tongue drinks from a silver river of fairy tears.
Under naked trees I sleep in the comfort of my fears.

When one fear dies, another is reborn.
Thorns replaces in my wreath of forlorn.

You needn't fuss with what's inside my head.
I remain an enigma to you long after I am dead.
