Night Falls At Sunrise

The Eclipse

The Eclipse
©Davey Moore 2004 FindersRKeepers Publishing

I foundered in the eclipse,
Blinded as my starship fell into this void,
Crashing into this vast nothing,
All hope of survival destroyed.
All hope of rescue,
Obliterated by the uncaring dark,
Which engulfed my spirit,
With it's demonic heart.
A million eyes,
Glare at me contemptuously,
Their cold stare unfeeling,
As is their world ruled by the deep.
Conscious burdens inflict my mind,
As I seek an escape,
To avoid the savage certainty,
That I will be devoured,
If I cannot get away.
It is alien,
To behold such atrocities,
My heart, my heart,
May not be the warrior I believed.
In smiling peaceful heavens,
I so long to fly,
Among shining stars,
Brimming with endless light.
This place I have crashed to,
Filled with destruction and smoke,
Calloused with bitter memories,
Ashes of lost fires of hope.
Before the eclipse,
I had ventured here when there was firmament,
Then it was I saw filled,
With clear skies so peaceful and content.
Could it be the eclipse?
Has made all blind?
Now lost to a shadow world,
Staggering to the final time.
To which all will become,
Ended, sacrificed to the hate,
That now rules their world,
That which has taken their day.
I foundered in the eclipse,
Blinded as my starship fell into this void...
