There's a feeling in my room tonight
A sort crackling pulsating in the air.
It's building to a crescendo
As suddenly surely she's there
Looking directly at me
So very distinct and clear.
I can almost hear her breathing.
She seems to be so near.
I stand and turn to face her
Return her open smile,
Then both of us are almost shyly
Regarding the other for a while.
I know what she is thinking
I know what I must do.
Today the time is right
For me to pass on through.
I have to make the decision.
It will be a one way trip.
There can be no returning.
Her reaching finger tips
Come slowly surely forward,
Touch my approaching hand;
Then I'm walking onwards
Into that different land.
Maybe this is my dying
But as I kiss her waiting face
Nothing else at all matters but
The warmth of her embrace.
