Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE
Divagation
For Irène
« A had come all way here from the sea,
yet met the wave again between your arms…”
Hart Crane (1899-1932),
And Bees Of Paradise
Are you real or fantasy? A voice from another place,
a time full of song, laughter and hope,
a spring day laid like a gift to God by the
fragile evening in the soul of the night.
Are you real or a fantasy? A cry from the depths
that furrows my vast memory like a chisel,
an alphabet made of embers, a fresco in a chapel
where your indistinct features shine out timelessly?
Trembling, I dream once again that my kisses of fire
are plunging into the ocean of your ancient face
and that your heart, as profound as an Attic scroll,
has come back to strike my blood with its hazy smile!
Are you real or a fantasy? A long-held dream come true!
A wound that shows my sombre solitude in its true light!
