When I went to school I thought it was great,
I played lots of sport with all of my mates.
Lessons were fun and the teaching superb,
Learning the difference between preposition and verb.
When I went to school, I worked pretty hard,
Hidden up my sleeve you could find the odd card.
Sometimes I needed to trump with an Ace,
It made me look good and I often saved face.
When I went to school, I set out a plan,
Of things that were useful and those I should 'can'.
I usually found, in a weird sort of way,
I seldom, if ever, had a bad day.
When I went to school there were moments of stress,
I found Perseverance, got me out of this mess.
Exam times were hard yet wisdom prevailed,
When the toughest of questions were thoroughly 'nailed'.
You had to be nimble, you had to be quick,
To be top of my class you had to know a few tricks.
If I had the chance would I do it again?
You've got to be kidding! It would drive me insane!
