Guidance from a Father

Proverbs 23:19-28

Give me an ear my son and please be wise,
So I may guide your heart the right way;
So you are not trapped by evil in disguise,
Knowing how temptations make you stray.

Give an ear to the father that you know,
Honor your mother even when she is old;
Remember all the nurturing as you grow,
With all of the wisdom that she has told.

Remain true to God and yourself as I say,
Being thrifty on how you spend your cash;
Asking God for good sense when you pray,
Not to squander your money on some trash.

Watch your heart so your parents have joy,
Take care as to where your eyes may ravish;
A loose woman would play you as her toy,
Then throw you away just as some rubbish.

An upright man can make a father thrilled,
As his son is righteous and full of wisdom;
The job of a mother and father is fulfilled,
He is on the path to the Heavenly Kingdom.
