I see them on the pavements
Young faces filled with joy
That awkward stage not man
Yet no longer just a boy
And they shout
And they brag
Self consciously smoke
The illicit fag
And the girls are so pretty
Young unspoilt faces
Life hasn't got there
To yet leave its traces
I smile for their youth
Envy their grace
Grieve knocks to come
As part of the human race
