Udomfo Must Die

Udomfo had to be born
Even though he was a product of rape
Even though his mother had no choice
And no care during her pregnancy
Even though he would be a shame to all his people
Udomfo had to be born

Udomfo had to be hungry
Even though tons of food were sent to his village
A cup of rice each day
With a small container of spoiled milk
Were all that reached his lips
The rest went to the military
Or to the black market
To line the pockets of the very few
That were sometimes in control
Udomfo had to be hungry
So that the food and money
Would keep coming

Udomfo had to be sick
Even though there were doctors
That came from so many miles away
Even across the oceans
But he was but a single drop
In an ocean of poverty and despair
Udomfo had to remain sick
Even though the doctors gave medicine to his mother
The same medicine she sold to try and buy food
Food to feed Udomfo's five brothers and sisters
Udomfo had to be sick
So that so many
Would still keep pretending
To give a damn

Udomfo had to die
And this everyone else knew
Even from the moment
He first was born
