when the finish line draws near

when the finish line draws near: in silent i shed a tear:       im thinking of all where i have been: thinking back to way back then:       i joined the marines when i was a teen: for me as a boy that was my dream:       a UNITED STATES MARINE i wanted to be: thats really all that mattered to me:       i took the test the first time and failed: but i studied, passed and prevailed:       it seems so long ago right now: and how i survived i dont know how:       i guess i took it all stride for stride: sometimes it was a bumpy ride:       now i can say that its almost done: to me its been a 20-year run:       i cant say that its been all fun: i cant sat that i always won:       the fact of the matter happens to be:i just did my best can you see:so now as the finish line draws near:country music i love to hear:       i feel like myself again: i havent felt like that, since way back when:   jdj  950630
