Sweet Child Of Mine

I sang to you a lullaby
As I rocked you slow in the chair
Held so tight in mothers' arms
Though my child you were not there

Visions danced within my head
As I touched your ivory skin
Looking soft into innocent eyes
Seeing the love there deep within

Tiny fingers did reach for me
So I took your hand in mine
Tickling toes to hear your voice
Sounds of heavens bells to chime

I drifted off to sleep content
To dreams of the coming day
When I could hold you in my arms
And hum to you in just this way......

I remember like it was yesterday
Though little one, you are now nine
Singing lullabies once more from days ago
As I rock my sweet child of mine
