ECHOES OF THE HEART
O THOMAS, Brother THOMAS (a Song)
"O Thomas, Brother Thomas
Rejoice for it is true,
The LORD, He has arisen
And we have seen Him too!"
"Nay, nay, I don't believe you
You surely are deceived,
Unless I see and touch Him--
How else can I believe?
I want to believe,
I'd be so relieved
But I must know,
That it is so--
Before I can believe!"
It was then eight days later
Disciples met alone,
And Thomas, too, was present
When the LORD Himself did come
To Thomas He did Challenge
"Come touch me as ye sought,"
Then Humbly he confessed the Christ
As His LORD and God.
"My LORD and My God,
So foolishly I've trod
But now I see,
It's truly Thee
O My LORD and my God."
Jesus in response to this
Had somewhat more to say,
To Thomas, but for all of us
Alive this very day--
"You believe because you saw
But this I tell you true,
That they who see not, yet believe
Shall be more blessed than you!"
Thus, we are so blessed,
Trusting Faith is Best!
Walk not by sight,
But in the Light
Of Christ who waits to bless!
