Advent 2005
I sit eating stuffed jalapenos-
The sweet spicyness intrigues my tongue.
My soul exhausted by the tears of this world
Death and dying, hurricanes, wars and earthquakes
The newspapers are full of these as are the TVs
And my computer screen
In Florida, a young man killed his parents on Thanksgiving Day
Evan Satan cringes and hangs his head-broken
"This is not what I wanted" he screams
And acknowledges that only an unknown God
Can release the sensations of the flesh
From their own destruction
The sweet spicyness intrigues my tongue.
My soul exhausted by the tears of this world
Death and dying, hurricanes, wars and earthquakes
The newspapers are full of these as are the TVs
And my computer screen
In Florida, a young man killed his parents on Thanksgiving Day
Evan Satan cringes and hangs his head-broken
"This is not what I wanted" he screams
And acknowledges that only an unknown God
Can release the sensations of the flesh
From their own destruction
