Mrs Purvis – a post script

I received a letter first class post
From the woman I love the most
Yes Mrs Purvis wrote a note to me
In town tomorrow join me for tea
A pot of Earl Grey and a crumpet or two
Say you'll join me yes please please do
I arrived in good time I hate being late
Met Mrs Purvis in Notting Hill Gate
She told me of the changes to her life
She was no longer a vicar's wife
And she was in town all on her own
With two suitcase and her Saxophone
And we had all the rest of the day
Soon as she found a place to stay
I offered unconditional use of my settee
If she didn't mind sharing the flat with me
I took her home and to my delight
She undressed and she shared my bed that night
We've been a couple ever since then
For I've loved her since I don't know when
We duet together when we're all alone
Me on drums she on saxophone
And we make love whenever we can
Because she's my woman and I'm her man
As soon as possible she'll be my wife
The perfect partner to my life
She is my love she is my friend
Can our story have a better end
