his canvas was empty so he filled it with such life
subtlety with brush strokes and bold palette knife
she was a creature of beauty a creature of fire
a creature of lusts of bold needs and desires
created from his mind a woman from his past
long suppressed emotions shown there at last
she gazed at him at him with such boldness
with such a great arrogance and coldness
as he looked at her sadly through films of tears
thinking of the good times from long past years
he left it for a week covered off from his view
finished some of his old work started some new
but he couldn't keep away from a work somehow wrong
forced himself to look at her and remember and be strong
a period of passion a period of blame
and very suddenly a period of shame
he regarded her picture with feelings of release
after so many years at last feeling some peace
then he shook his head and subtly altered the whole
repainted the eyes to show her compassion and soul
