Choirs

Thousands of massed voices
Can make the heavens ring
Oh how I wish to join them
If I could only sing

Oh I can write of beauty
Forge a word honey moon
Paint pictures of sweet sound
But I can't sing in tune

In my Sunday school church choir
I stood there every time
Forbidden to utter a note
‘Cos they only let me mime

I remember my first love
It didn't last too long
The horror on her face
When I sang her my love song

I thought I was doomed
To a bachelor type of life
Until I fell in love
And she became my wife

And now we love together
We sing and we rejoice
While the verdict is still out
On which has the worst voice

Oh the beauty of creation
Is such a blessed thing
For giving me a partner
Who also just can't sing

Thousands of massed voices
Can make the heavens ring
Oh how we wish to join them
If we could only sing
