LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING

LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING

Oh! Quick here you come I must wear a smile
And keep this false face on for a while,
I`ll try to act as normal as can be
The hurt I feel I can`t let you see.

My eyes will meet yours and I will want to melt
This too is a feeling that you once felt,
I blink to take away the tears that are there
`Cause the love I feel, you no longer share.

My smile to you won`t quite reach my eyes
I long to kiss your lips, can`t, so my heart sighs,
It`s nothing but a painted smile I wear
I want you, can`t have you, life`s just not fair.

My heart leaps at the very sight of you
That was how my love for you first grew,
Now I must try to still it in my chest,
Now my future plans have all gone west.

When we speak I try not to let my voice break,
I have to keep control for heaven`s sake,
Too much emotion would give things away,
Tho` there are things I would like to do and say.

I fold my arms just in case I forget,
I used to put them round you when we met,
To do this once more is for what I long,
It would be like a swans dying song.

We are so near yet so far apart,
When I see you it just breaks my heart,
I have to see you in case you change your mind,
Then if you want me I won`t be hard to find.
