 ramblings and things

flashback

she would lay there with her stomach
pressed to the grass beneath
with a chewed yellow cornstalk
stuck between her two front teeth
her weight resting on her elbows
in that way that I liked the best
for I could see the outline
of her firm forming breasts
we were growing up together
had been friends all our life
but that friendship now was strained
by bodies racked with hormonal strife
and we were feeling those emotions
so very very much
that there was a danger in even
the slightest of touch
we were children of our generation
in a now lost world of trust
that said we must never ever
give way to our lusts
and I fantasised about her
in the wildest of dreams
built a life together
in unspoken schemes
and we walked those fields so often
and I'm sure she also felt that fire
that comes from unspoken frustrations
and that fierce unexplored desire
so we grew up together
always chaste in our ways
so burned in my memories
of adolescent summer's days
those days we spent together
soothed and lulled by the breeze
that gently tossed the branches
of our many singing village trees
