Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE

Aphelion (English)

'In the time of my adolescence...'

        Blaise Cendrars

Day doesn't dare to move
between my charming young
fingers.

The light scent of your fairy
face
sways
among the hanging grapes
at the whim
of the musky feverish flight
of starlings.

The saturated hours of the blackberry bushes
and the amber of the orange-scented air
mingle
with a voluptuous sparkle
into the sublime poem
of our lives!

Stay like this, my soul,
without trembling,
without a shudder!

Let's listen to the
lofty serenity of words and beings without shadows
flowing in us!

translated from the French of Athanase Vantchev de Thracy by Norton Hodges
