La Vie en Rose

Now just an old man, listing to a
timeless Edith Piaf record,
"La vie en rose."

He rocks in his chair,
and hums along with the melody,
as he reminisces about a time,
when he had black curly hair.

Places he’s known along the  river Seine,
The Moulin Rouge, the Eiffel Tower,
Champs-Elysee, and the Arc de Triomphe.

A small table at a sidewalk café,
a carafe of sweet red wine,
an beautiful young lady that he’d
invited to dine.

Paris!
Oh! How he wishes he could relive
that marvelous time.

He knows those days are gone forever,
but those memories will linger on like
a never ending rhyme.

A tear slowly weeps from his aging eye,
but in the end he quietly smile and sighs,

Ah…"La vie en rose."
