Far from Perfect
I set my eyes for doing good,
As the Scriptures say I should;
But it is not always that way,
Because my eyes tend to stray.
So I continue to look around,
Trying not to make a sound;
But always seem to get involved,
Emotionally until it is resolved.
In having firmly planted roots,
Someone plucked all my fruits;
Then treating me as an outcast,
As nice guys seem to finish last.
I wish I had revenge in my sight,
But two wrongs do not make a right;
And so I will forgive and forget,
In order for me to cancel the debt.
For I know God is on my side,
Maybe not perfect but I abide;
And in doing wrong I confess,
Knowing that God sure to bless.
