incident ii

they had led a life of comfort
but only what they both worked for
then he went and joined the army
volunteered for Iraq and the war
she had told him you are leaving
you are going to risk your life
no thought of our son
or of me your wife
to fight for a cause
neither legal or even just
your duty is here with us
but go if you must
but if you leave us now
don't think of ever coming back
he died after three days of duty
in a suicide bomb attack
she didn't attend his funeral
closed her affairs down
changed her name and moved
to a quiet and distant town
