Only The Shadow Knows
In the shadow of another time,
and the shadow of another man,
that's where I now constantly stand.
No matter where I go or what
I do, that shadow goes too.
The man is long gone, but the
cast of his shadow lives on.
His name I hear often and his
many praises go far beyond
the coffin.
His memory is well know,
his spirit is well loved and
yet, his name is carved in stone.
In his shadow, I struggle to be
all I can, so my love can see
me in the shadow of her
yesterday's man.
She tells me she loves me, while
crying at the mention of his name.
Can she love me, while loving him so?
Only the Shadow will ever really know!
