New Years Choice

the years travel by each with a message of its own
do we listen do we hear or does it pass us by
we can always listen again next year.... maybe
each year we have a new years choice

building our dreams from lifes message left to us
going from day to day year to year never listening
wondering where we are going where we have been
each year we have a new years choice

but we never stop to solve our queries always to busy
we never look beyond ourselves see who we could have been
i have a long time to go time is on my side or so i thought
each year we have a new years choice

and when we discover time has run out for us we have remorse
we cant understand why there is no more time left to us
all the while it was us who needed to figure out who we were
each year we have a new year choice
