Some would wish for a pot full of money
Thinking it would make life sweet like honey,
But money also brings avarice, yes, greed
Always wanting more than you actually need.
Some would wish to be on a faraway shore
Where their worries and troubles are no more,
But like everything else, it just doesn`t last
Things will catch up to you ever so fast.
Some wish to go back to a day in the past
When balmy nights and long sunny days seemed to last,
But it`s a case that the present isn`t so bright
So we tell ourselves the past was best, are we right?
Some may wish for a better quality of health
Now this means more to them than great wealth,
But it they had a cure for which they had long awaited
They`d want something else, `cause we humans are never sated.
We all have a dream at some time or another
Which sometimes others may try to smother,
But we all need this as it`s our only hope
Striving for something keeps us sane and helps us cope.
My wish, you want to know my wish? Well alright,
To love you again, I wish with all my might,
But no amount of wishing will turn the clock back
No, for now we both travel on a different track.
You soon learn that you can wish `til your blue in the face
But really you are just running an uphill race,
A little word from the wise, `Be careful what you wish for`,
You may just get it BUT not in the way you bargained for.
