 CHARLAX LEGACY

Poets have remembrances of pearl handled days
When whiskey flowed like water from the grave
and friends were lovers never other lessor knaves
this is my legacy
To make the words eye leave to thee
to sing to thee
to even so become something of a problem
placed within thee
to make someone even thee remember me
this is my legacy
To add this in thy memory
Somewhere in the desert sun a man hides from the shadows
with his left hand on his bridle bit his horse with leather saddle fit for war
his right hand on his pistol grip he waits for bandits as they limp
to find the goods upon the saddle pommel
to make the score that makes them rich
to bring them more
this is my legacy
He shoots them one by one replacing bullets in his gun
He walks up to them and empties pockets one by one
He makes the girls in every city weep he uses none
He listens to Buck Rogers sing on the nickelodeon
He makes the horses of his enemies be meat he eats
this is my legacy
He sings to Jesus when he happens to find a church
He eats anything he finds before he starves he drinks
He drinks from cactus and he seldom weeps
He searches for his own lost mind and dresses neat
Boots and jeans and shirts too large
this is my legacy
He makes the poems in the times to be forgotten
they line the cages of there birds and think that he is rotten they ignore the genius he is becoming
they sent him missiles and destruction nothing granite nothing solid
this is my legacy
A lady friend who loves him but she ignores him
She leaves him guessing at her reasons
She leaves him fruitless in his fetters of abandonment of love
She tries to wonder if he misses her and wonder if he cares so much she could not make it any better as she leaves him in his dirt
this is my legacy
