Half a light year away,
Shown on every observation screen
There's an enclosing global field
To enforce the quarantine
They think they are alone
As .they rape their planet home;
Beg steal .and borrow
From any tomorrow
Frittering away
Their children's children's day;
And the ice disappears
As disaster nears
With temperature highs
And tidal rise;
Still they maim and kill
Nominally at the will
Of a jealous God
Which, so very odd,
Preaches paradise and release
For the practice of love and peace.
They know it existed but they learn no more
From the passing of the mighty dinosaur,
And hate and greed
Replaces sense and need.
As the observers watch
In fascination and despair
The global field ensures
Contamination is kept just there
