I will let go of ties that bind
And the bitter hands of fate.
I'll stop to see that I was blind
Before it is too late.
I'll place aside the past I've known –
The times of angst and dread
Then, celebrate my life, alone
With all its days ahead.
I will let go of grief and loss
One memory at a time.
Realize, at last, I am the boss
Of life, still in its prime.
I'll wake within the hint of dawn
With feelings fresh and new.
Then, treasure each, as I move on
Toward dreams I'll now pursue.
I will let go of every seed
That opted not to grow –
The things in life I did not need
Which haunted my mind so.
Then, I'll go forth from this new day
Much better than before
As I continue on my way
To what still lies in store
