(This was inspired by a fellow poet friend who has seen her marriage disappear.)
Love Hangover
She married for better or for worse
Words spoken in the eyes of God
Never realized they'd become a curse
Now memories are all that she's got
A heart shattered and broken in two
Never saw the signs on the wall
He never had given a clue
That their marriage was about to fall
She lies in bed crying her tears
Wondering what she did that was wrong
How could she have lived all these years
When things weren't what she thought all along
And now that the love is over
She needs to get on with her life
She's left with a love hangover
From so many years of being a wife
She's starting a new chapter in life
A life that she's not too sure of
But she'll never give up on the fight
Because she always believed in love
And as she wipes the tears from her eyes
She puts a huge smile on her face
She throws away all of his lies
Bad memories will soon be erased
