 ramblings and things

servitude

why me she whispered
leant against the wall
imprisoned by his arms
as he towered there tall

over her seemingly brittle
small spare pretty frame
trying to incline her head
to read his badged name

whiskey from his breath
flowed over her still face
she wished just to be
away out of that place

he traced her cheek
with finger tips
pressed his mouth
to her closed lips

one leering eye winked
and then he was gone
to share his charisma
with another captive one

she forced back her smile
just as soon as she was able
and then picking up her tray
went to serve the next table

where she smiled sweetly
all prim and trim and neat
but all she was thinking of
was her poor aching feet

conference hall waitress
to finance her law degree
about halfway through
year one of at least three
