A real friend

I know who's the boss in my house
and I can tell you now it's not me.
He's a little soul with a playful growl
and goes by the name… Barney.
I wake him in the morning
then give him food to eat.
He doesn't mind if its chips and peas
or a plate of well cooked meat.
Then I take him walking
so he can pee and have a dump…
While chasing all the Rabbits and Hares
round every grassy hump.
Sometimes we go to the river
where I throw him stones to chase.
Then I get a soaking…
as he shakes all the drips in my face.
Of course then I have to dry him…
before he soaks everything at home.
I dry his sack as he lies on his back…
till he gives a little groan.
He tells me when he's hungry
also when it is time for a walk.
He tells me all the things to do…
And he doesn't even talk!
I nurse him when he's poorly
I brush him every day.
I make sure he's teeth are nice and strong
So he can chew my a*se away.
And yet all he does is be there…
but being there is just what I need.
There is nothing lost whatever the cost…
In having a real friend indeed!
