Running toward the Goal
I have not reached my goal,
Because a mortal soul;
Since it is not perfect,
For my years of neglect.
But Jesus has been bold,
As He has taken hold;
Encourage me to run,
Until completely done.
I struggle on the way,
Being enticed to stray;
But I still look ahead,
Towards Christ the Lord instead.
I forget what is behind,
Since erased from my mind;
Since it is forgiven,
For my run to Heaven.
For Jesus is my friend,
And waiting at the end;
Since He will have my prize,
When I reach my demise.
