smallstepsmadpotepotriemantheartfulcodgerscogspeaksvolumes
spandau


ceremonially mounted
there in the court yard
each power in turn providing
a spandau prison guard

for just a tired old man
remnant of an evil past
being fed and watered
until the very last

political pawn now
kept there inside
symbol of a victory
until the day he died

a prison in a prison
for gathered all around
the occupying forces
isolated that town

justice in her blindness
there to remind one and all
very soon after he died
they dismantled that wall
