Ah! Television. The optical drug that holds
Our minds in thrall. That leads us on with siren's call
And chips away at our brain. Though much abused
It is still much used to transport us to other worlds
And helps to ease the pain of our aloneness- our solitary being.
For even in a crowd of friends we dwell
In a cylinder of flesh and feeling.
So, for a while we lose ouselves in miraculous electronic worlds,
And sell our souls to the advertiser's purse.
