Futility

He fracture time, he fractured space
To build his own very special place.
It wasn't here, it wasn't there;
Fractured space, it was everywhere,
And it wasn't now and it wasn't then;
Fractured time, it was anywhen.
He was there at the end of the Earth
At the very instant that he saw its birth
He wasn't young and he wasn't old
Felt no heat nor felt no cold
He wasn't heard and he wasn't seen
He might just as well not have been.
In his special place, trapped inside
For to leave was to have that instant died.
So he sat and watched eternity flow by
And many a place and time wondered why
He'd fractured time, and fractured space
To build his own very special place.
