Once a joyous song and laughter filled his mind-
then a journey over hell's bridge of lengthened time.
His life-long ambitions, the heartfelt pangs of grief,
of a handsomeness beaten to a pulp beyond disbelief-
as a faceless corpse, repulsed to scorn
when world views beauty only skin deep, untorn.
A priest took pity, letting love and sensitivity interplay,
bringing forth support and care Mel's way!
He became the best person he could be,
gaining solace and surgeon's touched by God's Loving Hands,
shaped and re-sculptured this loving man!
His spirit weathered from trials laced with love
taught forgiveness and to be thankful daily, to God above!
Live each day to its fullest-scoring integrity to the soul
developing abilities and courage that soars,
and virtues of loving his family, that he adores!
We're grateful for his story of strength and inspiration
he shares and no matter how deep things may fall
he'd already been there!
