 ramblings and things

new era

they sang songs of freedom
knowing they weren't free
for the guard sat at the door
kalashnikov across his knee

out side in the darkness
flames grew higher and higher
so it seemed to the prisoners
the whole city was on fire

and every little while
they'd take one to the door
a fusillade of shots and
silence returned once more

old scores are being settled
new alliances being drawn
and the new era starts
with the bright new dawn

for the sane are in the prisons
and the lunatics run rife
in the name of revolution
for more equality of life

they sang songs of freedom
knowing they weren't free
for the guard sat at the door
kalashnikov across his knee
