Somewhere in the attic

Somewhere in the attic
Stairway has rotted
Lights don't work
I hunt for rarity
A phrase or even a word
Comments gone stray
 Dark and dusty words
Ignored and discarded
Singular light beam
Cast across the floor
On the wall a balloon
Of days gone past
Faded color shrunken
Lack of much needed air
Old placards and pictures too
No longer attached
The air is ripe with words
Like fondue, or deja voo
Encrypted in filth
Once it held promise
And excitement
Many memories lay unbound
Somewhere in the attic
Scrolls and manuscripts
Pages and books
Yet to be published
Somewhere in the attic\of my mind
