The Bells Have Chimed a Million Times
The bells have chimed a million times
and Auld Lang Syne's been sung.
Happy New Year's been shouted out
all around the world.
Let us trust this year brings peace
to places torn apart:
where wars have raged for many years!
Can they know hope at last?
It's great to have a special day,
to put the past behind;
But most of all to one and all,
Remember to be kind:
For kindness is a candle
that flickers everywhere;
It reaches to dark corners
to those in deep despair.
