Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE
Tonight I Cannot Sleep
Tonight I Cannot Sleep
for Dalibor
'You are my drunkenness
I'm still drunk with you
I can't be sober
I don't want to be sober'
Nazim Hikmet
No, my Friend, on this night,
this vast, pure summer night
I cannot sleep!
All these stars, my Friend,
all these stars which intoxicate my soul,
all this silence,
all this silence
full of the liquid light of your eyes,
all tremble at the tips of my lashes!
Tonight,
tonight when every nest
is a small boat of happiness on a sparkling sea,
O my friend,
I cannot sleep!
