A lot of my life is between beginning and end
Early in my life poverty boarded windows and pain
We can't pick our parents my Father was the stain
But at some point a time came to my life mend
School was hard for me thought school was sports
And of coarse with those feeling grades out of sorts
I wasn't high in my class but I did indeed graduate
And with a diploma went into the world I could hardly wait
When the call came to serve my country I went willingly
And they say it but true it made a man of me
Who'd a thunk this kid on probation would go to college
But on the bottom for me no way I had to search for knowledge
You know those early years and sports I was given a scholarship
Who'd a thunk a kid like me could write a book of poetry
Sure it probably won't sell well but "Womb of the Same Mother."
Written from a kid who in early days so close to the gutter.
What I say to kids starting out just like me, do the best you can
When I look back at my life I can say I can proudly stand
I am not so smart that I can say what life's ending will be
But I will say I did not let the bad times get the best of me
